How I Spent My Stimulus Check

Economic stimulus paymentAfter a long wait, I finally received my $1,200 economic stimulus payment check in the mail last week. Although some retailers offer various tax rebate bonuses, discounts, and special deals, I decided to just spend $200 on special purchases - lawn and garden at Lowe’s.

Combining with the latest special “Life Takes Visa” offer (see below), I can get $10 off for every $25 I spend at Lowe’s. In the other words, I can get up to 40% bonus or $120 with my $200 spending ($180 with tax).

All I need to do is to generate as many as 12 coupons and try to spend just right at or above $25 for every single purchase. With a total budget of $300, I hope I can beautify my garden and enhance my home’s curb appeal as well as potentially increase long-term property value.

Despite this is a Visa offer, many people, including myself, have successfully utilized other credit cards like MasterCard at the checkout. Don’t forget to earn up to 5% extra cash rebate for the “Home Improvement/Construction Supplies” category by paying with credit cards like The Chase Business Cash Rewards Visa Card.

On the other hand, I will add the remaining $1,000 to my taxable portfolio so that I can pick up some stocks in the bargain bin when the time comes. How about constructing a mini “Fun Portfolio” with 10 stocks at no commission with Zecco?
